Hauls, Shopping

Book Haul a.k.a. I turned 30 so I bought myself a stack of books

It was my birthday earlier this month and so I treated myself to some books. Entirely unplanned actually – I went in to town to go for lunch with a friend and it was her idea to go to bookshops, I wasn’t planning on spending anything!

But then we went to the bookshops…

In the first book shop I visited I picked up Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Lost in the Never Woods by Aiden Thomas and Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao. Why these books in particular? Well, I just saw them so I picked up them. I had very little restraint and as soon I as I picked up one book I had to pick up more because you can’t just go to a book shop and get one book. That’s not a thing. I figured Certain Dark Things could make a good read for this month as it’s about lots of supernatural creatures and Lost on the Never Woods will be useful for if I ever decide to do a rainbow read month because I don’t own many books with purple covers.

Anyway, a few shops later my friend and I were in another book shop and so I ended up picking up two more books. I had kept putting Babel back when I saw it in the first book shop but I couldn’t keep resisting it. And again the rule stands that you can’t just buy one book when you go to a book shop, so I bought a second, Wolfsong by TJ Klune – and oh am I glad I did because I started reading that the night I got it and finished it in a day and a half because I was enjoying it so much.

And also, I bought them more recently but I also bought several volumes of the manga Vinland Saga which I’m loving but those are on my kindle so I couldn’t get those in a nice book stack photo.

So yeah, that was my birthday treat to myself. Have you treated yourself to any new books recently?
